Bbq Fruit Kebabs - Fruity Favourites On Your Bbq
Your gas BBQ doesn’t have to be all about burgers and sausages. You can also whip up some pretty tasty desserts with the help of your gas grill, and of course, some gas from London Gases. Most of our recipes involve a good portion of fruit, so you can even use your grill as an excuse to get an extra portion of your five a day.
The night before your BBQ, take one pineapple and slice off the spiky rind, the top and the bottom. Remove the core, and slice the pineapple into about 8 rings. You could try tinned pineapple rings, but they might be a little too saturated from the juice. Put them in the fridge overnight, with a marinade of four tablespoons of rum, four tablespoons of brown sugar, and half a teaspoon each of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. Feel free to vary these to your own taste. Fire up your gas BBQ to maximum heat, and grill each slice for about 15 minutes, turning once. When they’re cooked, spoon over the remaining marinade, and serve with cream or ice cream.
You need four fairly firm peaches, one tablespoon of vegetable oil, two tablespoons of honey and we like soft cheese as a topping, but you might prefer some ice cream or cre?me fraiche. Cut the peaches in half and remove the stones before brushing the oil lightly over them. Get your grill up to a medium heat, then grill the peaches, with the flat side down on the grill. Turn them over and brush the griddled side with some honey before removing the peach from the grill. Add a spoonful of soft cheese or cre?me fraiche into the gap where the stone was before serving.
Think of it as a hot banana split. Take four bananas out of their skins and slice them down their length. Now slice them across the width so that you have a banana cut into about 14 pieces. Put the sugar and cinnamon into a long bowl or on to a plate. Brush the banana with lemon juice and roll it into the sugar and cinnamon mix. Your grill only needs to be a low heat, so put each banana on for three minutes on each side, and serve with ice cream.
