Top tips for saving gas this winter

The days are growing shorter and the weather is becoming colder in the run-up to Christmas. If you use gas canisters to heat your home, you may be thinking about buying a few extra ones to see you through the winter. Luckily, gas is a highly affordable fuel. However, you may want to save a little Christmas money by reducing your gas consumption as much as possible. Here at London Gases, we’re experts on home fuels and how to use them. That’s why we’d like to offer you our top tips on saving gas and, consequently, saving money.

1. Ensure that you’re using an efficient heater

Not all gas-powered heaters are equally efficient. If you’re using an older, less efficient heater, you might wish to consider investing in a new one. The money you save on gas will make up for the cost of the heater more quickly than you might expect.

2. Keep internal doors closed

Everybody knows that they need to keep windows and external doors closed during winter. But did you know you can also preserve heat and save money by closing the doors between rooms in your home? This prevents heat dispersal and keeps the warmth from your gas fire or cabinet heater in the room or rooms where you need it. As a result, you won’t have to leave your fire or heater on for long stretches of time and will be able to use less gas.

3. Buy your gas from a reputable supplier

Making sure you purchase gas canisters from a reputable supplier is a good way to save money. Some suppliers don’t take enough care when bottling gas and may sell canisters that aren’t as full as they should be, or contain other elements that don’t burn as efficiently. Simply choosing a good supplier will help you save money and use the right amount of gas fuel.

Here at London Gases, we sell both propane and butane Calor gas bottles, so if you do need to purchase some extra gas canisters for the winter, make us your first port of call. We can provide high-quality gas at affordable prices as well as great advice.
